Canvassers proclaim Jenny Barzaga as winner

MANILA, Philippines — Canvassers proclaimed Dasmariñas Mayor Jennifer Barzaga on Sunday as the winner in the election held for the House of Representatives seat of Cavite’s fourth legislative district.

She obtained 201,893 votes, the members off eh board of canvassers said in the certificate of canvass. The voter turnout was 258,361, based on information shared by Commission on Elections Chairman George Garcia to the media. Four others also ran for the post.

A nurse by profession, Barzaga has previously served as a lawmaker at the House.

The election, held on Saturday, stemmed from the House’s expulsion of her son, Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga, from its membership for what it found to be disorderly behavior.
