MacroAsia breaks ground on new Clark maintenance facility

MACROASIA Corp., through associated company Lufthansa Technik Philippines Inc., has broken ground on a new aircraft base maintenance facility at Clark International Airport.

In a statement on Thursday, MacroAsia said the new facility was targeted to commence operations in 2028, subject to the completion of construction, regulatory approvals and other customary project requirements.

The Clark facility will serve as Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ second major base maintenance location in the country, complementing its existing operations at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila.

“The project reinforces the company’s commitment to expanding aviation maintenance capabilities in the Philippines,” MacroAsia said.

The facility is expected to include dedicated aircraft painting and non-destructive testing capabilities. It is being developed to accommodate selected Airbus and Boeing wide-body aircraft, with planned future capabilities for aircraft types such as the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787.

Development of the facility is part of Lufthansa Technik’s planned expansion of its maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities in the Philippines, and is expected to strengthen the country’s position as a competitive aviation services hub in the Asia-Pacific region.

MacroAsia shares edged up P0.02, or 0.53 percent, to close at P3.76 each on Thursday.
